Over a hundred arrested in Ekurhuleni over the weekend
About 113 suspects are due to appear in various courts in Ekurhuleni soon to face their different charges after being arrested by police last weekend.
Various police stations in Ekurhuleni Sub-East District managed to arrest the suspects on different operations held over the weekend from Friday, July 15 to Sunday.
Ekurhuleni Sub-East District Police in Zone 4 joined forces with other stakeholder such as: EMPD, Home Affairs Immigration officials, CPF and different security companies in order to conducted various operations in thier policing precinct over the weekend.
“The suspects were arrested through different operations executed in high density, road blocks, VCP’s tracing of wanted by Detectives suspects and random stop and searches,” explained police spokesperson Constable Sivenkosi Mtwa.
Suspect were apprehended for various crimes ranging from: Murder, Attempted murder, Rape, Sexual assault, Common assault that includes domestic violence, Assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm, Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, Common robbery, Malicious damage of property, Housebreaking and theft, Theft, Shoplifting, Possession of suspected stolen Property, Possession of drugs, Possession of hijacked motor vehicle, Shoplifting, Possession of dagga, Tempering with Infrastructure, Dealing in drugs, Selling liquor without license and lastly some are arrested for Drunk and driving.
During Station Commander’s operation on Friday night, three men aged between 20 to 44 were arrested for Possession of suspected stolen properties at Buhlepark and on Saturday in Katlehong. The High density operation also yielded results, where a 34 year old male was arrested in Moleleki ext 2 for dealing in drugs.
