Rand Water has successfully completed repair work at its Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant following an explosion that disrupted water supply to several areas around Gauteng this week.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 27, when a motor connected to one of the pumps in Engine Room 4 exploded. Technical teams immediately began working around the clock to fix the problem and restore normal operations.
By Wednesday night, all repair work was finished and the water treatment plant returned to full operation.
What’s Working Now
Four major booster stations that depend on the Zuikerbosch plant are now operating at full capacity:
- Palmiet
- Eikenhof
- Mapleton
- Zwartkopjes
Water reservoir levels in the Palmiet, Eikenhof, and Mapleton areas are steadily refilling.
Residents who experienced low water pressure or temporary water outages should notice gradual improvement as the system returns to normal.
In an official statement, Rand Water thanked customers and stakeholders for their patience during the disruption and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the incident.
The water utility emphasized its commitment to maintaining reliable water supply and promised to continue responding quickly to any incidents that affect service delivery.
