SASSA takes steps against COVID-19!

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has sent a notice its clients and grant beneficiaries on the steps it will take to implement the recommended safety measures against COVID-19.

These are implemented with the aim to curb the spread of the virus as well as to educate its beneficiaries as follows:

Beneficiaries are to note that a limited number of clients will be allowed in our premises

Beneficiaries are encouraged to stay at home if their health is ill

Straight forward enquiries can be done telephonically

All SASSA public gatherings have been postponed till further notice

Home visits, clinic and hospital visits are temporarily suspended

Beneficiaries are urged to use electronic means of payment on paydays, and we advise them that social grant does not have to be collected on the first day of payment. Beneficiaries can still collect their social grants later in the month to avoid crowding

Cash Pay Points will be operational with recommended hygiene measure in place. Beneficiaries are urged with comply to hygiene requests.

These precautions are implemented in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) of 1993. As well as supporting the reduction and strategies to eliminate the spread of COVID-19.

We humbly request from each one of us to do their part in managing this pandemic.

“SASSA appeals with clients to be patient and understanding in this time of crisis,” said the agency in a statement.
