A lifeless body of a little girl aged 5 was discovered by community members at Ground Two in Bluegum View section in Duduza on Wednesday, January 1.
Bongani Monaledi, an eyewitness commented: “I was going to see my sister since it’s a new year and when I I passed the ground near Mauno section I discovered the body of this little girl rolled up in grass. This is very painful and still asking myself as to why would a human being do such cruelty. I have never seen anything like this before.”
Resident Thembi Simelane said: “This is a very sad way to start the year. Our kids are no longer safe because of people who do not have conscious and behave like dogs. Whoever did this deserves to be killed because we know that the justice system always fails us”
“I feel terrible sad for the parents of the child. Police must do their work in finding the perpetrators and locking them behind bars,” Bongi Hleko added.
An inquest docket has been opened at Duduza police station and the police are appealing to anyone who might have any information pertaining this matter to come forward or report at the police station.
According to some of the witnesses, it is believed that the perpetrator may have been raped and killed the child before being left in the bushes.
