All primary school learners return on August 2
The Department of Basic Education has confirmed that it will resume full school attendance in primary schools from Monday, August 2.
This is meant to cover the lost time as school closures were extended during the lockdown level 4 in the beginning of July.
Minister Motshekga said that educators and schools have been prepared ahead in advance since schools officially reopened on Monday, July 26.
“The decision to allow primary school learners to return to class daily was approved by the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), as advised by scientists who monitor and advise cabinet on COVID-19 related matters,” said the department.
According to the department, over 517000 teachers and support staff have been vaccinated nationally.
