Detective secures conviction for local troublemaker
Ratanda community can finally breathe a sigh of relief after the Heidelberg Regional Court handed down a 16-year prison sentence to Tshabalala Bongani Kgomotso, a 31-year-old African male adult, on March 2023.
Kgomotso was found guilty of malicious damage to property, trespassing, and possession of housebreaking implements.
The sentencing of Kgomotso came as a result of the relentless efforts of Sargent Claude Thekiso Mogotsi, who worked tirelessly to investigate the case. The Ratanda SAPS management and commanders expressed their satisfaction with Sgt Mogotsi’s outstanding work.
In response to the verdict, members of the Ratanda community expressed their gratitude for the hard work put in by the SAPS officers. One resident said, “We are happy with the outcome of the case. We feel safer knowing that criminals are being punished.”
Sgt Mogotsi also expressed his satisfaction with the verdict. “It was a sleepless night and restless, hardworking, and dedicated investigation,” he said. “I’m pleased that justice has been served, and the community can finally feel safe.”
The sentencing of Kgomotso sends a clear message that criminal activities will not be tolerated in Ratanda and the neighboring areas. The SAPS remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the community.
