Ekurhuleni new mayor unveils administration

The City of Ekurhuleni will be officially swearing-in a new administration led by the Councillor Sivuyile Ngodwana as the Executive Mayor.

On Thursday, April 6, the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs) will take place at the Germiston Council Chambers.

The committee was appointed by the Executive Mayor on the day before in accordance with Section 60 of the Municipal Structures Act, to assist the Office of the Executive Mayor to fulfill its mandate.

The Executive Mayor Ngodwana is eager to introduce the newly appointed MMC’s to the public, and believes that the diverse and experienced team will contribute significantly to the city’s progress and stability.

The newly appointed Mayoral Committee will replace the MMCs that were appointed by Alderwoman Tania Campbell, who was ousted a week ago in a motion of no confidence.

Councillor Ngodwana, who was the Sports Heritage Recreation & Arts portfolio committee Chairperson before replacing Campbell, is a member of the African Independent Congress (AIC) party.

The Members of the Mayoral Committee are as follows:

  1. MMC for Finance: EPMO, Information and Communication Technology and Service Delivery Coordination – Cllr Nkululeko Dunga
  2. MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy – C. Lethal. Manamela
  3. MMC for Transport Planning, Roads and Stormwater – C. Andile Mgwevu
  4. MMC for Community Services: Health, Social Development and SHRAC – Cllr Bridget Thusi
  5. MMC for Infrastructure Services: Real Estate – C. Kgopelo Hollo
  6. MMC for Community Safety: EMPD and DEMS: ClIr Sizakele Masuku
  7. MMC for Corporate and Shared Services: Human Resources, Communications and Brand Management, Strategy, Risk, Legal and Intemal Audit – Cllr Nkosindiphile Xhakaza
  8. MMC for Human Settlement – Cllr Marcie Madihlaba
  9. MMC for City Planning and Economic Development – Cllr Nomadlozi Nkosi
  10. MMC for Environment and Waste Management Services – ClIr Eunice Matloga
