Jukulyn Axe Attack Horror: Grade 5 Learner’s Fingers Cut Off by Student Teacher
“They’ll pay for my son’s fingers,” vowed Godfrey Magokobu, father of a Grade 5 learner who was brutally attacked with an axe by a student teacher at Dimakatso Primary School in Soshanguve.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 22, during school hours. The young victim was rushed to Soshanguve 2 Clinic before being referred to George Mukhari Hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the child was initially struck with a board duster and then taken outside, where his hand was held against his will and struck with an axe. One finger was severed immediately, while two others were left hanging.
“He was first struck with a board duster, and after not showing any emotion, he was taken outside the class. His hand was held against his will and then struck with an axe. We are not sure if he was trying to scare him off or if he did it intentionally, but one finger fell off immediately while the other two were hanging,” said an eyewitness who asked not to be named.
Magokobu is seeking justice and plans to sue the Department of Education. “I’m going to sue the Department of Education; they will pay for my son’s fingers,” he said.
The school’s account of the incident has been disputed by the child, who claims the axe was intentionally brought down on his hand. “They said the axe fell on his hand by accident, but my son said they are lying — they put his hand on the table and hit him intentionally,” Magokobu said.
Residents are currently mobilising to shut down the school, demanding accountability and the immediate removal of the student teacher.
This is a developing story.
