Rising Star from Ratanda Set to Drop New Mixtape
The streets of Ratanda, Heidelberg, are buzzing with anticipation as local talent Jabulane Msimanga, better known by his stage name Deep Tailer, prepares to release his latest project.
The 21-year-old rapper and producer has announced that his new mixtape,TIME FLIES WHEN YOU, will be released late November on all major digital platforms.
For Deep Tailer, this project marks a significant milestone in his young but promising career. “It’s a fresh start,” he says of the upcoming release, which will showcase his evolution as an artist through a collection of South African Trap and Rap tracks crafted specifically for his growing fanbase.
From Classroom to SoundCloud
Deep Tailer’s journey into music began in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown while he was a student at Khanya Lesedi Secondary School.
Like many young artists of his generation, he turned to music as an outlet during uncertain times, collaborating with producer Thobile Makau, known professionally as T4. Together, they began uploading tracks to SoundCloud, gradually building a loyal following.
“This is a big step moving forward to the future,” Deep Tailer reflects on his upcoming mixtape. “The project will be different to what has been made before.”

The mixtape promises to deliver authentic South African Hip Hop flavour, blending trap beats with the distinctive lyrical style that has become Deep Tailer’s signature. For fans of the genre, this release is shaping up to be essential listening.

“The aim is to keep moving and grow bigger,” he states, demonstrating the ambition that has driven him from a Ratanda teenager experimenting with music during lockdown to a rising name in the local Hip Hop scene.
