“Beneficiaries who do not wish to continue using the SASSA Gold card have an option to open their own bank accounts with an institution of their choice as it will assist them to take ownership of their funds and collection. Beneficiaries can change their payment option by visiting their nearest SASSA Offices with a confirmation from the bank that the account belongs to them and is valid.
Community members are advised that should there be changes or developments regarding any SASSA-related matter, such will be communicated on SASSA credited platforms. Social grant beneficiaries are also reminded to always keep their cards and PINs safe and not to share their pin with anyone,” said the agency.

Social Grant recipients are also advised of other alternative forms of receiving their grants and these includes using their personal bank account for money to be paid in directly, as well as using their SASSA/SAPO card as a debit card on the ATM and counter of different merchants such as SPAR, Checkers, Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Cambridge and others.
