Three Suspects Arrested for Murder and Robbery in Ratanda
Ratanda police have made a major breakthrough in the murder case of a 72-year-old woman who was brutally killed at her home in Motsatsi Street, Extension 3, in January.
Three male suspects, aged between 19 and 26, were arrested on Monday, February 4, after forensic evidence linked them to the crime.
According to police spokesperson Officer Moss Maluleke, the suspects were identified through fingerprint analysis, which connected them to the murder scene. “Following thorough investigation and forensic work, our officers managed to track down the suspects and place them under arrest,” Maluleke said.
The three appeared before the Heidelberg Regional Court on February 6, where their case was officially placed on the roll and postponed for a bail application. They will remain in custody as investigations continue.

Ratanda police have vowed to ensure justice is served. “We are leaving no stone unturned in this case,” Maluleke assured. “Our officers are committed to ensuring that those responsible for this heinous crime are held accountable.”
The Ratanda Station Commander praised the police for their dedication and also acknowledged the role of the community in helping with the investigation. “This success shows the importance of working together to fight crime,” the commander said. “We appreciate the community’s cooperation and urge residents to continue assisting law enforcement.”
