Two Killed in Vosloorus Crash Between Mini-Bus Taxi and Bus

Two passengers were tragically killed in a collision between a mini-bus taxi and a bus on Berry Marais Road near Vosloorus on Tuesday, October 15.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) rescue team responded swiftly to the scene after receiving a distress call at 07:50 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a severely damaged mini-bus taxi, with six occupants, including the driver, in the middle of the road. Two passengers were motionless and still trapped inside. The bus, a privately owned vehicle, was found off to the side of the road, with only the driver on board.

“For safety and operational reasons, authorities temporarily closed the road. Rescue teams had to use specialised hydraulic equipment, commonly known as the Jaws of Life, to extricate two adults from the mini-bus taxi. Sadly, both were declared dead at the scene due to severe injuries.”

“The remaining taxi occupants, including the driver, sustained injuries ranging from moderate to critical and were transported to a nearby hospital. The bus driver escaped with minor injuries,” theDEMS spokesperson, William Ntladi explained.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).

Pathological Services transported the deceased to a facility in Germiston for further examination.

The bus involved in the accident was also damaged
