Young Girl Found Dead in Rubbish Bin, two arrested
Two illegal immigrants, a 33-year-old male and a 37-year-old female, have been arrested in connection with a murder case following a tragic incident in Ratanda.
On Thursday, April 4, at approximately 03:30, police swiftly responded to a report of a missing child on Maphiri Street, Ext 6 Ratanda. as a three-year-old girl was reported missing in the early hours of Wednesday.
Constable Maluleke, the police spokesperson, stated, “Through police investigation, we have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder case.”
According to Constable Maluleke, the suspects alleged that a verbal altercation ensued between the suspect and the mother of the deceased after the suspect was caught attempting to steal. Subsequently, the deceased visited the suspect, who was alone at the time.
The suspect’s male friend arrived while the two were together. The friend requested to use the restroom, providing the suspect with an opportunity to strangle the child to death.
Constable Maluleke further stated, “The male friend returned to find the tragic scene and assisted in disposing of the body by wrapping it in plastic and placing it in a dustbin.
“The victim’s body was discovered after a comprehensive search led by Ratanda police, with assistance from the Dog unit. The young girl was found wrapped in plastic inside a rubbish bin.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The suspects have been detained at Heidelberg Saps and are expected to appear before the Heidelberg Magistrates court soon.
Ratanda Saps urges the community to refrain from spreading misinformation and taking matters into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold.
