Elderly Woman Found Stabbed to Death in Ratanda
A murder investigation is underway in Ratanda after the tragic death of a 71-year-old woman on Wednesday evening (November 13). The victim, identified as Miss Patricia Masondo, was discovered lifeless in her home by her sister, who immediately alerted authorities.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Ratanda received a call at 6pm from Extension 3, Round 14. Upon arrival, officers found Ms. Masondo lying on her bed with a stab wound on the right side of her neck. According to the initial report, her sister had found her body and called the police.
Notably, the door to Ms. Masondo’s home was closed but unlocked, with no visible signs of forced entry. Police sources indicate that neighbors last saw the elderly woman on Tuesday afternoon, November 12. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene and declared her dead shortly after.
The motive behind this disturbing incident remains unknown, and the SAPS has urged the Ratanda community to come forward with any information that could assist in solving the case.
