EMPD catch drug dealers in Alrapark
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit on Wednesday, February 15, successfully intercepted two men aged 21 and 23 in AlraPark near Nigel area, for dealing in illegal drugs.
This achievement was made possible by information from a reliable source about an address in AlraPark that was believed to be a safe house for illegal drug dealers.
“Upon arriving at the address, officers discovered one male suspect inside the yard and another inside the house. Both suspects were questioned and asked to allow a search of their persons and the premises. The search resulted in the discovery of 22 bags of crystal meth and nine units of mandrax tablets, which had an estimated street value of R4,200. The officers also found R230 in cash,” said EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.
The two suspects were handcuffed and taken to the Nigel SAPS police station, where they were charged with dealing in drugs. They will soon appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court.
The EMPD has commended community whistle-blowers who provide information that helps to bring lawbreakers to book.
Dealing in illegal drugs is a serious offense, and law enforcement agencies are continuously working to eliminate this scourge in communities.
The EMPD and other law enforcement agencies depend on information from the public to achieve success in their operations. It is, therefore, essential for community members to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
