Lesedi bids farewell to Community Icon Judah Dhlamini
The Executive Mayor of Lesedi Local Municipality, Councillor Mluleki Nkosi, has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Judah Solomon Dhlamini Ka Yika.
In a heartfelt statement, Nkosi extended the municipality’s condolences to the family, friends, and comrades of the late revolutionary leader and community leader.
“We dip our revolutionary flag in honour of one of our own. The pain that his family is going through is mutual,” said Mayor Nkosi.
The mayor highlighted Comrade Dhlamini’s lifelong service to the Lesedi community, particularly tracing his legacy back to his days as a member of the Congress of South African Students and the United Democratic Front, where he was a crucial figure in resisting Apartheid repression.
Comrade Dhlamini is remembered for his pivotal role in advancing community development.
He was an influential figure in the Heidelberg Development Forum and contributed significantly to the Thusong Advise Centre, which was later transformed into the Heidelberg Advisory Centre.
“Comrade Judah was instrumental,” Nkosi added, noting his leadership in setting up Peace Structures across Gauteng and Heidelberg.
“He led the Department of Service Delivery and served as a Ward Councillor, making a lasting contribution to democratic local governance,” Nkosi said.
Dhlamini’s indelible impact on local government and service delivery will not be forgotten, with Nkosi emphasizing his unwavering availability to serve the community as a public servant until his untimely death.
At the time of his passing, Dhlamini was a Director in the Office of the Chief Whip of Emfuleni Local Municipality.
“Comrade Judah Dhlamini will be sorely missed,” Nkosi concluded, offering heartfelt condolences to his family, comrades, and friends.
The African National Congress (ANC) – Buti Motloung Branch in Lesedi Ward 3, also paid tribute to one of their fallen Comrades.
A memorial service is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 3 at the Ratanda New Hall from 1PM.
Comrade Dhlamini’s funeral service will take place on October 5, at the First Full Gospel Church in Ratanda, Heidelberg, where the community will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
