Nompumelelo Drops Single to Celebrate Women’s Month
Nompumelelo Nkutha, a talented gospel singer, songwriter, and performer from Duduza in Ekhurhuleni, continues to heal with the beautiful sounds of her unique voice.
Popularly known to many as Mpumelelo The Worshiper, she has recently released a single titled, Procedure, to commemorate Women’s Month. The song opens with a message of unity and a reminder that all women have similar life experiences.
“I wrote this song to honor the struggles of women in the past and celebrate their current achievements. Women are an inspiration in most areas of life, and I want to encourage them to continue to fight for a fairer and more inclusive future. This song empowers ambition and persistence, and celebrates the strength and resilience of womenkind.”
Nompumelelo’s passion for music began in her early years, inspired by a diverse array of musical influences ranging from Jazz to Gospel.
“I have always loved music. I started singing in primary school during assembly and also for the school choir. My role model was Dr. Rebecca Malope. I was introduced to the late Xoli Nkosi, who was a keyboard player for Joyous Celebration 2, and he encouraged me to pursue music as a career. I was a backup vocalist for many established artists like the late Vuyo Mokoena, Mantombi Mbele, and others.”
Nompumelelo’s journey as an artist is a testament to her talent, resilience, and dedication to her craft.
“My journey has been full of ups and downs. I’ve been exploited because people will tell you that they are giving you exposure, and sometimes I was rejected as well. If music is your life, you have to be determined and persistent to make it work. Hard work and consistency will take you far, but you must also believe in the power of prayer because God is good at all times, and miracles happen every day. In 2023, I was one of the recipients of the Duduza Heroes Awards for Best Female Gospel Artist.”
The single is available on YouTube and other platforms.
