Severe Cold Front Incoming – Public Urged to be Safe
The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for an intense cold front expected to hit parts of the country from Wednesday, June 25 to Friday, June 27.
As the system moves from the Western Cape across to the inland and eastern provinces, residents are urged to take safety precautions.
According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), the system will initially make landfall over the south-western parts of the country—mainly the Western Cape and Namakwa District in the Northern Cape.
The cold front will persist from Wednesday through Friday (June 25–27), gradually extending its reach into the interior and eastern regions.

Public Safety Advice:
- Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain, strong winds, or snowfall.
- Exercise caution on the roads; wet and slippery surfaces may cause accidents.
- Dress warmly and ensure that vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly are protected from the cold.
- Secure loose items around homes and yards to prevent wind damage.
- Stay indoors during peak storm conditions where possible.
- Avoid coastal and marine activities, as rough seas and strong winds pose serious risks.
- Monitor official weather updates through SAWS social media and news updates.
The weather service will continue to issue updates as needed. Stay safe and weather-aware.
