Thousands of motorists caught speeding in one month

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD) officers operating fixed and mobile speed cameras, recorded almost ninety thousand motor-vehicles driven in excessive speed on our roadways across the city.

In total, the EMPD’s Speed Enforcement Section recorded about 86 948 cases of excessive speeding during the month of August this year.

“In the Eastern region, eighteen thousand nine hundred and fifty-six (18 956) were recorded; in the Southern region, thirty-one thousand seven hundred and fifty-three (31 753) and in the Northern region, thirty-six thousand two hundred and thirty-nine (36 239) cases,” explained police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.

The Anti-speed operation continues in the City of Ekurhuleni and all law breakers, will be brought to book by the Metro police department and other law enforcement agencies.
