SASSA announces October 2026 grant payment dates
Those who receive their grants through bank accounts or SASSA cards can access their funds at ATMs and participating retailers.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the payment dates for social grants for October 2026, giving millions of beneficiaries an opportunity to plan their monthly finances.
Older Persons Grant beneficiaries will be paid from Friday, 2 October 2026. Disability Grant beneficiaries will receive their payments from Monday, 5 October 2026, while Child Support Grant and other children’s grants will be paid from Tuesday, 6 October 2026.
October 2026 SASSA grant payment dates:
- Older Persons Grant: Friday, 2 October 2026
- Disability Grant: Monday, 5 October 2026
- Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant and Care Dependency Grant: Tuesday, 6 October 2026
SASSA has reminded beneficiaries that there is no need to rush to withdraw their money on the first day of payment. Once the grant has been paid into a beneficiary’s account, the funds will remain available until they are needed.
“The general principle for determining the grant payment dates for social grants is to ensure they are paid as early in the month as possible, staggered over three days,” SASSA said when announcing the 2026/27 payment schedule.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to collect their grants safely and to be vigilant against scams. Those who receive their grants through bank accounts or SASSA cards can access their funds at ATMs and participating retailers.
