The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that payments for the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant for June 2026 will be processed between 24 and 25 June 2026.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to check their payment status before visiting payment points or making travel arrangements. SASSA has reminded recipients that payment dates may differ depending on the bank or payment method selected by each beneficiary.
The agency has also introduced a WhatsApp self-service channel to help SRD beneficiaries access important information without having to visit SASSA offices or contact the Call Centre.
Through the automated WhatsApp service, beneficiaries can access key SRD grant information, including payment-related updates and other assistance linked to their applications.
SASSA said the service is available on WhatsApp through the number 082 601 0111.
Beneficiaries are urged to remain alert for scams and to use only official SASSA communication platforms when checking their grant status or sharing personal information.
The SRD grant continues to provide temporary financial support to qualifying unemployed South Africans who meet the required criteria.
