Katlehong man get double life sentences for violating stepdaughter

A Katlehong stepfather has been sentenced to two life terms in prison after being found guilty of raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter.
The 40-year-old man was sentenced in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on 2 September on two counts of rape.
The court heard that the incidents took place on two separate occasions in November 2024 while the girl’s mother had left her in the care of her stepfather.
The teenager later disclosed the abuse to her mother, who reported the matter to Katlehong Police Station. A rape case was opened, and the investigation was assigned to Detective Sergeant Solomon Mashego of the Katlehong Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.
Police traced and arrested the accused. His bail application was successfully opposed, and he remained in custody throughout the court proceedings.
Following his conviction, the court sentenced him to two life terms of imprisonment.
Gauteng police have welcomed the sentence, saying it demonstrates the justice system’s commitment to holding perpetrators of sexual offences against children accountable.
