Heidelberg SAPS is appealing to members of the public to assist in locating 19-year-old Owami Moloto, a Sedibeng College student who has been reported missing.
According to police, Owami was last seen on Thursday, 9 July 2026.
At approximately 6:20pm, she sent a WhatsApp message to her mother, Betty Moloi, stating: “Don’t worry, I am safe.” However, when her mother tried to call her shortly afterwards, her cellphone was switched off.
Police said enquiries with fellow students revealed that Owami was last seen walking with another woman at around 4:00pm on the same day.
She reportedly left home carrying a bag containing clothes and her laptop. According to her mother, Owami does not have a boyfriend and has a small circle of friends, making her disappearance particularly concerning.
Police have visited local hospitals as part of their investigation, but she has not been located. The search for the missing student is continuing.
Heidelberg SAPS is urging anyone who may have seen Owami Moloto or who has information that could assist in locating her to come forward.
Anyone with information is requested to contact Heidelberg SAPS on 010 499 4513 or report the information to the nearest police station.
