IEC Warns Public Against Fake Recruitment Notices
The public has been urged to remain cautious and avoid engaging with suspicious recruitment posts, links and contact details.
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has warned members of the public about fraudulent recruitment notices and other misleading content circulating on social media and messaging platforms.
The Commission said it is aware of a fake recruitment notice being shared online and has confirmed that it was not issued by the IEC.
The public has been urged to remain cautious and avoid engaging with suspicious recruitment posts, links and contact details.
“The Electoral Commission does not use unofficial websites for recruitment,” the IEC said.
The Commission also clarified that it does not use WhatsApp numbers or “link in bio” posts to accept job applications.
According to the IEC, all legitimate vacancies are published exclusively on its official website.
Job seekers are encouraged to verify opportunities directly through the Electoral Commission’s official recruitment page at elections.org.za/pw/about-us/browsejobs.
The IEC warned the public not to share personal information, documents or banking details with individuals or groups behind the fake notices.
“Help us stop the spread of misinformation by sharing only verified information from official Electoral Commission platforms,” the Commission said.
The IEC urged South Africans to be vigilant, particularly as false information and scams continue to spread rapidly through social media platforms and messaging groups.
