Joburg City Power officially launched its new CP eCharge mobile application on Thursday, 29 October 2026, providing motorists with a digital platform to access and pay for electric vehicle (EV) charging services.
The launch was led by the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Dada Morero, at City Power’s EV Charging Station at its head office in Reuven, Johannesburg.
The Mayor was joined by the MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services (EISD), Cllr Jack Sekwaila, and City Power Acting CEO Charles Tlouane during the event.
According to City Power, the CP eCharge app is designed to make EV charging more convenient and accessible for motorists by offering a simple digital payment platform for charging services.
The launch formed part of the City of Johannesburg’s October Transport Month programme, held under the theme, “Working Together Through Public-Private Partnerships.”
City Power said the introduction of the mobile application marks another milestone in its electric vehicle programme, following the unveiling of its EV charging station at the utility’s head office earlier this year.
The utility added that more information about the application’s features and functionality would be made available as the rollout progresses.
