Police appeal for help to find two missing boys in Wepener
The two boys, Lebohang Mosesi, 9 and Teboho Mosesi, 11 are from Phomolong Informal Settlement in Bloemfontein.
Police in Wepener, in the Mangaung Metro, have appealed to members of the public to assist in locating two brothers aged nine and 11, who have been reported missing.
The two boys, Lebohang Mosesi, 9 and Teboho Mosesi, 11 are from Phomolong Informal Settlement in Bloemfontein. They were visiting relatives in Wepener when they disappeared on Thursday 17 September 2026.
According to police, the boys had been staying with relatives in Shipman Street, Wepener, accompanied by their elder sister.
The family became concerned after noticing that the boys’ clothes were missing from the house. Relatives then contacted people in surrounding areas, including Vanstadensrus and Bloemfontein, to establish whether the boys had possibly left on their own and travelled to either destination.
The search was subsequently expanded to members of the local taxi association in an effort to establish whether anyone had seen the children travelling in or around Wepener.
Police said a taxi driver came forward and reported seeing two boys walking along the R702 road in the direction of Bloemfontein. Investigators are following up on the information as the search for the children continues.
At the time they left the house, Teboho was reportedly wearing blue shorts, a pink T-shirt and sandals. His younger brother Lebohang was wearing tracksuit pants, a red jersey and black takkies.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the boys since their disappearance, or who may have information about their whereabouts, to come forward without delay.
Members of the public who have information that could assist with locating Lebohang and Teboho are requested to contact Warrant Officer Corra Nel on 079 502 3774.
Information can also be reported at any police station or through the SAPS Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111.
Police are appealing to residents along the R702 and surrounding communities, as well as motorists and public transport operators travelling between Wepener and Bloemfontein, to remain alert and report any information that could assist investigators.
The search remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with potentially useful information not to assume that someone else has already reported it. Even seemingly minor details could assist in establishing the boys’ movements and bringing them safely home to their family.
