Police looking for Panki Paul Molokomme aka Augusto Avaro

According to police, Molokomme allegedly posed as a director of diesel companies and convinced pensioners to invest money in what he claimed were legitimate business ventures.

Gauteng police have appealed to members of the public to assist in locating a man wanted in connection with an alleged fraud case involving approximately R541 000.

Police are searching for 56-year-old Panki Paul Molokomme, who is being sought following a fraud case that was reported to authorities in January 2026.

According to police, Molokomme allegedly posed as a director of diesel companies and convinced pensioners to invest money in what he claimed were legitimate business ventures. He reportedly promised investors high financial returns on their investments.

Investigators allege that the suspect used the alias Augusto Avaro while carrying out the scheme.

The fraud is believed to have resulted in losses amounting to about R541 000, with pensioners among those allegedly affected.

Gauteng police have urged anyone who may know Molokomme’s whereabouts or who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

Members of the public can contact the investigating officer, Lieutenant Colonel Motolla, on 082 715 9583 or 071 675 6421.

Information can also be provided anonymously through the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111.

Police have encouraged residents to remain vigilant when approached with investment opportunities that promise unusually high returns and to verify the legitimacy of companies before investing their money.

Anyone with information is urged to report it immediately.
