SASSA confirms September 2026 grant payment dates

SASSA reminded beneficiaries that there is no need to rush to payment points on the first day of payment, as funds remain available in beneficiaries' accounts until they are needed.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the payment dates for social grants for September 2026, urging beneficiaries to collect their grants according to the official schedule.

SASSA reminded beneficiaries that there is no need to rush to payment points on the first day of payment, as funds remain available in beneficiaries’ accounts until they are needed.

The September 2026 grant payment schedule is as follows:

  • Older Persons Grant: Wednesday, 2 September 2026
  • Disability Grant: Thursday, 3 September 2026
  • Children’s Grants and all other grants: Friday, 4 September 2026

Beneficiaries who receive their grants through bank accounts, SASSA cards or approved payment methods can access their money once it has been deposited. There is no requirement to withdraw the full amount immediately, as the funds will remain safely in the account.

SASSA has also encouraged beneficiaries to remain vigilant against fraudsters who target grant recipients. Beneficiaries are advised never to share their PINs, passwords or personal information with anyone claiming to represent the agency.

The agency further reminded grant recipients to keep their contact details up to date, including their cellphone numbers and residential addresses, to ensure they receive important notifications about their grants.

Beneficiaries who experience problems with their payments or require assistance are encouraged to contact SASSA through its official communication channels or visit their nearest SASSA office.

SASSA said the monthly payment schedule is designed to ensure the smooth and efficient distribution of social grants to millions of South Africans who rely on this support.

Mapepeza News encourages beneficiaries to rely only on official SASSA announcements and trusted news sources for information about grant payments and to ignore misleading messages circulating on social media.
