Two students from the Heidelberg Campus have brought national recognition to their college after winning top honours at the South African National Artisan Awards (SANAA) 2026 Trophy Design Competition.
Odi Marago won first place in the Electrician Trophy Design category, while Naledi Mafane claimed the top award in the Fitter & Turner Trophy Design category.
The two students were each presented with a Certificate of Achievement and a R10,000 cash prize in recognition of their creativity, innovation and technical excellence.
The achievement also earned the College a Certificate of Recognition for its participation and contribution to the SANAA 2026 Trophy Design Competition.
The students were accompanied by Mr Witness Ncube, Head of Department for Engineering Studies at the Heidelberg Campus, who represented the College during the awards.
College management said the national recognition reflects the quality of skills development taking place at the Heidelberg Campus and highlights the dedication of lecturers in preparing students for careers in technical and engineering fields.
The College said the success of Odi and Naledi demonstrates that TVET students are not only preparing for the workplace, but are also innovators, creators and problem-solvers capable of making an impact on the national stage.
The awards celebrate the growing role of technical and vocational education in developing the country’s future artisans and encouraging excellence in skills development.
